In the last 20 years the regiment has deployed on the following operations, with many more deployments on overseas training exercises and Short Term Training Team (STTT) deployments.
The 2016 NATO Summit in Warsaw set the conditions for the establishment of an enhanced Forward Presence (eFP) in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland to strengthen Euro-Atlantic security.
A Light Cavalry Squadron, of approximately 150 personnel, deployed to Poland, and is under the command of 2 US Cavalry Regiment.
Additional units include elements from Royal Military Police, Intelligence Corps, Royal Signals and Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers. Enhanced Forward Presence is just one aspect of a wide range of UK support to NATO.
British soldiers also serve with United Nations peacekeeping Forces in Cyprus (UNFICYP). There is no operational link between British soldiers serving in the Sovereign Base Areas (SBAs) and the British contingent of the United Nations Force in Cyprus.
These soldiers serve on Operation TOSCA, an unaccompanied six month UN tour of duty and are responsible for maintaining the integrity of the Buffer Zone that runs between the Greek and Turkish Cypriots.
The Command includes the capital Nicosia and soldiers wear UN (blue) berets.
Operation HERRICK was the name given to all British operations in the War in Afghanistan during the period 2002 – 2014. It consisted of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF). The Regiment deployed twice under Op HERRICK in 2011 and 2014.
Operation TELIC was the name given to all British military operations in Iraq conducted during the period from the Invasion of Iraq in 2003 and 2011. The Regiment deployed three times during this period and were involved in the invasion.
