THE INDIAN MUTINY

On 10 May 1857 the Indian Mutiny broke out in Meerut. The 6th Dragoon Guards were stationed in the city and served throughout the Mutiny in many actions, including the re-capture of Delhi. The 3rd Dragoon Guards were dispatched to India in August as part of the Central India Field Force.
