To recognise their famous regimental nickname, the 2nd (Royal North British) Dragoons were officially titled the 'Royal Scots Greys' in 1866. Whilst stationed in England in 1877 the regiment's name was shortened to the 2nd Dragoons (Royal Scots Greys).
